Opera 7.51 from Opera Software
Opera is a good example of programs using their own .INI files for settings.
Storing Opera in D:\Programs and after a reformat/reinstall of C:\WINDOWS you just need to run D:\Programs\Opera\opera.exe and everything is there:
-
- history
- bookmarks
- wand passwords
- active forum login session (cookies)
- open browser windows
- skins
- button layout
- menu layout
no need for reinstall, reconfigure and logging in on forums = 2 hours saved.
Opera can also show all open pages at once in small windows, why thumbnails are not enough and Operas solution is better.
The problem with tab thumbnails
Why? Unlike the thumbnails, which are just fuzzy and unreadable zoomed out versions of the webpages, Opera actually rerenders the pages to fit smaller windows sizes. That rerendering changes the zoom somewhat, but not equally for all elements. Opera, using its "Fit-to-window-width" feature, shrinks certain elements while keeping other elements large, especially text. Unlike the thumbnails in foXpose, you can actually read the text in the tiled Opera windows. Also, it's important to note that Opera's rendering prevents or at least drastically reduces the need for horizontal scrolling.
