These should be lifted\u00a0to benefit and promote\u00a0120Hz monitors.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Windows default refresh rate<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Does not automatically set 120Hz. Windows benefits high refresh rate too, not just games.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>IE10 HTML5 tests<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Show a max FPS of 60, but are not limited to more as far as I can tell. But the max\u00a0displayed should be 120FPS, as\u00a0not only games benefit greatly from 120Hz+FPS.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Batman &#8211; Arkham Asylum<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Most UE3 games have framerate smoothing enabled. This also implements a frame rate limit.\u00a0It can usually be configured via Engine.ini files:<\/p>\n<p>[Engine.GameEngine]<br \/>\nbSmoothFrameRate=True<br \/>\nMinSmoothedFrameRate=40.000000<br \/>\nMaxSmoothedFrameRate=80.000000<\/p>\n<p>These are lines from UT3&#8217;s UTEngine.ini file. Arkham Asylum should have something similar.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0Bulletstorm<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Recent Unreal Engine games have a 60 FPS limiter, and the trick is to find the UEngine.ini file and set alll instances to bSmoothFrameRate=False. In Bulletstorm the ini file is encrypted so you need <a title=\"Bulletstorm INI Editor\" href=\"http:\/\/www.fileplay.net\/file\/12896\/bulletstorm-ini-editor-v1-1-for-v1-0-7111-0\" target=\"_blank\">this<\/a> first, then edit StormEngine.ini in C:\\Users\\username\\Documents\\My Games\\BulletStorm\\StormGame\\Config<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Crysis 2<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Does not support higher than 60Hz refresh rate due to DirectX 10. I use nVidia Control Panel to force the refresh rate to max, which ends up as\u00a0120Hz.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alien vs Predator 3<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Does not support higher than 60Hz refresh rate due to DirectX 10.\u00a0nVidia Control Panel does not \u00a0provide\u00a0a refresh rate override.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Red Faction:\u00a0Guerilla<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This games engine is tied to the FPS, so the faster FPS you have the faster the game runs. It makes you run faster, and drive faster and that makes it harder to drive well and attain achievements.<\/p>\n<p>Update! This has been fixed in a patch.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>DirectX 10 games<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Seems to generally\u00a0have problems with the 60Hz limit. Doesn&#8217;t anyone at Microsoft that develops or tests DirectX have a monitor that can run at 120Hz? That&#8217;s no good!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ghost Recon Future Soldier<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Ghost Recon Future Soldier - PC Technical Support\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ghostrecon.net\/faqs\/index.php?action=artikel&amp;cat=2&amp;id=150\" target=\"_blank\">Might be resolved<\/a> in a future patch<\/p>\n<p><strong>XCOM: Enemy Unknown<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Cursor is strangely <a title=\"XCOM: Enemy Unknown 30fps cursor \" href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=1qEyDL4bBOs\" target=\"_blank\">rendered at 30fps<\/a>\u00a0even if the game is rendered at 120fps+<\/p>\n<p>Update: Fixed in a patch.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Many programs and games have 60FPS or 60Hz limits.
